Hey guys,

I traded an xbox 360 i got for a simple desktop PC untill i get my beast up and running and i managed to break it!

Basically its a pretty crappy/standard pc, the person who i got it off didnt have the onboard sound/gfx installed(well the drivers at least) and i came across a registry backup file and thought "great! i can simply backup and the drivers will be installed again!) well it wasnt so great, because i was running xpsp1 and in the backup file was xpsp2, now when i try to startup i get a CMOS/GPNV checksum bad error message, when i continue and load default values by pressing F1 it all seems to load fine but then i get to the welcome screen and it doesnt say anything, it usually says waiting for windows to load and then welcome or something similar, but anyway, it will not load past that screen.

Now i dont have my xp disk at the moment because its all in storage with my main gaming computer with the broken PSU.
and of course xp isnt able to startup in DOS mode as you can with previous OS.

So any suggestions??

Find a computer that has a dvd burner or if you have a 4Gb flash drive download the OS and just do a whole new install (or you can borrow someones disk) if you choose to download you will need to make it an ISO then boot from it.

I wouldn't recommend using one. All the providers over here have a cap on bandwidth that you will blow through if you are gaming with it. Verizon's cap is 5Gb/mo. I've gone through 5Gb in a day before. Speed wise they are ok but make sure you read the contract before you sign on the line.

Roger that CFF,

I may have to look into getting a phone line hooked up in my place, but if im moving again then i may wait and get it hooked up in my new house which will actually be mine and not just a shared property where people will be trying to use it and costing me a bomb!
Ill check to seeif i can get any decent offers from some companies i know.

Thanks Country!
